TOPIC: In a Time like This

TEXT: Matthew 24 (KJV)

⁴ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

⁵ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

⁶ And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

⁷ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

⁸ All these are the beginning of sorrows.

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

¹⁰ And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

¹² And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

¹³ But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The Alpha knew what would happen before the end so he foretold what would happen because in him was the beginning and in him lies the end.

When the disciples of Jesus asked him of the signs of his coming and the end of the world, (vs 3), he gave them a translucent list of what the happenings of his coming would be.

Crested in Mtt 24, he gave them a clear picture of what would happen when his coming is approaching. This is becoming evidentially terrifying before us.

The first mentioning of Jesus is deception.

It is Lucid that deception is now at the apex of the pyramid. People are easily misled not because the deceivers looks feeble and appealing but because they are wolves in sheep clothings.

In their eloquence, they give clarity to obscurity.

Their speech is so powerful and convincing

They talk with confidence and authority that would almost take the saints off balance except those that depends on the Lord for discernment.

This made me remember the happening that occurred between Paul and a damsel that had the spirit of divination in (Acts 16: 16 ff).

Would you have thought Paul would have kept quiet knowing fully well that the spirit in her is a deceiving spirit? Your guess is as true as mine, hell no. But lo and behold he kept mute for some days while some were deceived prior to him casting out the demon from her (Acts 16 : 18).

Do you know her testimony about Paul was true this is a clear picture of what a deceiving spirit is. The spirit gives their Agents clear speech that would verify the happenings in your life. But lo and behold, they are fake, they are deceivers.

For many shall come in my name... (Vs 5). This is obviously perspicuous that deceivers won't only come against the name of the Lord, they will also come in his name. Professing signs and wonder in his name, commanding demons in his name, in fact teaching mysteries in his name.

They will also heal the sick, wake the dead, do all sorts of things in the name of Jesus; so how do you flee from such people?

This is where the danger lies. Some people that seem to be walking in the realm of the supernatural might be deceivers just like the woman in Acts 16 : 16ff . Some might even be your Spiritual Fathers and Mentors, modelling you aright but still are deceivers.

Would you have imagined that the woman in Acts had a deceiving Spirit, it's a Capital NO! She said the right thing, she pointed the attention of people to Paul who is undoubtedly an Apostle of Jesus Christ , commissioned by him to spread his word. She even made the work easier for the Apostle by proclaiming what the Lord intended to do through his Children but lo and behold she is a deceiver.

The devil had long been in the business of deceiving God's children. Do you remember Adam and Eve in Genesis 3, Eve was deceived and she did ate the forbidden fruit.

When the devil wants to deceive you, he will alter the truth as a truth but it's just a truth in disguise to accomplish his own task.

He said in Genesis 3 (KJV)

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Obviously a deceiver will tell you the truth but the truth isn't just the truth, he has an altered untold story behind what you were told.

Jesus didn't just mentioned it first, he knew the power of deception is so powerful that a mighty man could fall down flat, without being able to stand again.

The power of deception is bigger than you if you have not the genuine spirit of God.

In a time like this, deception is the order of the day, you barely know who to follow or model, simply because the operational effects of the spirit of deception is exceedingly inclining, overthrowing the apex of the pyramid.

In a time like this we have so many  Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Pastor, Teachers, Ministers, Minstrels, Bishops, Reverends and so on. How many are genuine? hope you have not been deceived

Jesus said, many will come in my name. It simply means many will come in the appearance of Christ Jesus, they would do things he did, even more. Does that make them less a deceiver

It's so pathetic that my generation has been overwhelmed with deceivers, how simply because we run after personalities instead of running after the person behind the happenings, we run after words wisdom to soothe our hunger instead of getting utterances from the giver of all tongues) languages. We run after the fame and popularity, instead of running through the processes of becoming like HIM.

 In a time like this, get personal with HIM because in HIM lies the victory to overcome.

Am I saying there are no Men that stands on the truth of the word of God and are still genuine? I never meant that, what am saying is , in a time like this, manifesting before us are the signs of the coming back of Jesus Christ and he will rapture only those that have a deposit of HIM in them. I said HIM. Not the deposit of your spiritual father or mentor, not the deposit of your ruler, but the deposit of HIM.

I hear someone saying my spiritual father is a replica of HIM. Wow! How lucky you are to have such wonderful model, you should continue in that but not restricted to him. Get acquainted with HIM because when you are, you have access to doing everything .

Someone said and I quote , if your Spiritual Father doesn't believe in what you are to say, then don't preach it.

Giving respect to Fathers in Faith is exceedingly pleasant and passes respect, but should the utterances of God be limited to the desires of Men.

Someone said and I quote, if your spiritual father is polygamous, don't preach against polygamy on his pulpit. No wonder the Hebrew writer said Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our Faith (Heb 12:2).

Let your perfect model be Jesus, why. simply because Jesus said, many will come in my name.... And will deceive Many.

Obviously if we are in the time that validates what Jesus said in Matthew 24: 1ff , we need to be on the alert to check ourselves and do the needful.

How to get delivered from the Spirit of Deception

If many will come in HIS name and deceive many, it means the name should be special because if it isn't, there wouldn't be need for many to come in his name, if the name is so powerful and peculiar that even deceivers have to rely on it to carry out their evil plans, then you need to know what makes it special.

1. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior

2. Confess your sins (1John 1: 9)

3. Go get the promise of the Father, The Holy Spirit (Joel 2 : 28 -29, Acts 2 : 17 - 18)

4. Get the Spirit of Discernment (1cor 12: 10b)

To terminate the functions of the Spirit of Deception, you need the Spirit of Discernment , it will distinguish the spirit that speaks or operational in people. It is very essential you get this because with this, you will get clear direction from the Lord.
