RCCG Special Sunday Service; Going Higher (part 31)
Topic: Going Higher (part 31)Sub-Title: The Fire that Fell
Text: 1 Kings 18:37-39
What happened when the fire fell?
1. It consumed the offering on the altar.
• Not all offerings are acceptable to
God. Genesis 4: 3-5
• If God rejects your offering, it means
He has rejected you.
• When God accepts your offering, it is a
privilege.
• If anyone tells you that without your
help, God can't do His work, the fellow is deceiving you.
2. The fire consumed the wood.
• Every wood has the potential of becoming
fire, hence the name 'firewood'.
• But the potential will not be
actualized until it comes in contact with fire.
▪︎Peter's potential was activated when
the fire fell. Luke 5: 1-11, Acts 2: 1-4
3. The fire consumed the stones.
• Stone signifies suffering. Matthew 13:
1-6,
• Fire can bring an end to hardship. 1
Kings 17: 8-16, 2 Kings 4: 1-7, Exodus 3: 1-8
• A stone can also represent the hardened
heart of man.
Ezekiel 36:26, Jeremiah 17:9
▪︎John became an apostle of love after
the fire fell.
Mark 3:17, Luke 9: 51-56, 1 John 4: 7-8
4. The fire licked up the water.
• Water can represent sorrow.
• Jesus Christ promised us the Comforter,
who is the Holy Spirit, who brings joy and comfort.
Acts 10:38
5. It consumed the dust.
• Dust signifies problems in the body. Mark
5: 25-34, Genesis 3: 17-19
6. The fire brought about revival.
• When the fire fell on the day of
Pentecost, revival followed. Acts 3, Acts 4:4
• Whenever prayer is answered by fire,
revival follows.
•• If only you'd allow the Holy Spirit come, and stop being skeptical, there will be a turnaround, and there will be revival.
