MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: One exemplary act may affect one life or a million lives.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: YOU WILL NOT FAIL GOD IN LEADERSHIP, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

The life of Joshua, the son of Nun, was an eloquent testimony to the saying that leaders rule by example rather than command. He was a quintessential leader and a positive influence on the people. In Joshua 24 after leading his people into the new land, Joshua offers the Israelites the option to either serve God who they had always served, the one who had brought them into the land or serve the gods of the surrounding lands. However, he added, “But as for me and my house,” he says, “we will serve the Lord.” The people answered in unison that they would pledge their allegiance to God and continue to serve Him. Because they believed in Joshua’s leadership, they followed Joshua’s example. He didn’t have to threaten them; he merely inspired them by his example.

Exemplary leadership is the biblical kind of leadership. Jesus attested that He did what what He saw the Father do. He also encouraged His followers to obey and believe His Father and Him. He is our perfect example and role model. He led by example. His life taught the principles of love, humility and so on. He did not only teach these principles, He demonstrated them by laying down His life, enduring persecution, washing His disciples’ feet and so on.

Apostle Paul said, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” His principle was “do as I do, not do as I say.” He led by example and he was a good example to all followers of Christ. An inspirational and influential leader does not have to coerce and intimidate his followers to buy into his vision or follow him. Because they lead by example, their followers will be inspired to believe in them, follow their instructions and be committed to their common vision or goal.

Beloved, God is looking for leaders He can count on. Leaders that will inspire his people as Jesus, Joshua and Paul as well as many others did. Today, the church as well as families, organisations and nations need godly and inspirational leaders. Are you available?

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

Father, make me an exemplary leader in word and in deed, in the name of Jesus.

Father, let everything I do in leadership be devoid of selfish interest, in the name of Jesus.

My Father, let all my focus be on bringing glory to Your name, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

I shall not fail in leadership, in the name of Jesus.

Spirit of error and misjudgement, I am not your candidate, die, in the name of Jesus.

Holy Spirit, be my Guide, Illuminator and Teacher forever, in the name of Jesus.

I shall be head and not tail; I shall be above always and not beneath, in the name of Jesus.
