TOPIC: Total Redemption

TEXT:  Luke 21:25-28

[25]And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

[26]Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

[27]A nd then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

[28]And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

MEMORISE: Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near (Luke 21:28)

The process of redemption requires primarily the payment of a particular ransom to get back a valuable person/object. This, our Lord Jesus Christ has perfected, once, and for all, for the believer and His Church, by His many stripes and death on the Cross of Calvary (Psa. 49:6-9; Jn. 19:30). The other aspect that can make someone forward-looking and presentable/acceptable to God is currently ongoing by the work of the Holy Spirit in the believer (Phil. 1:28-30; 2:12, 13). The final relevant definition of redemption, which is the state or act of being saved from the power of evil, is now about to begin. Pointers to this are the current global manifestations of the various signs that are meant to precede and usher in this event, as elicited in our devotional text for today (Lk. 21:28; 1 Pet. 1:6-12). An alarm will sound to all nations to prepare for this crucial and glorious event, which is meant to end all controversies concerning the True Church of the Living God.

Furthermore, in the work of total redemption of the believer in Christ, certain encounters and experiences are not avoidable. This involves "engraving," which is the art or process of cutting words or design on woods, stone, metals, etc. One can better imagine what that entails. This, however, we see and was the experience of some certain disciples of the Lord on their way to Emmaus, in Luke 24:13-35.

Verses 31,32 (And their eyes were opened ...and they said one to another, did our hearts not burned within us while he yet talked with us, and while he expounded the Scriptures?) vividly portray this act of "burning" and imparting certain truths and virtues into the core of our systems through our inner man or spirit, by the Living God, as had been prophesied through His prophets since (Zech. 3:8-10). Only those who have come to Christ and are growing in Him can experience this total redemption. Is that your experience, yet?
