The life of a paralytic is better imagined than experienced, even as today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Paralysis is simply a result of disjoint or death of vital body parts that enhance movement. The total inability to move or act due to non functioning of the leg, waist or hands puts the victim in a miserable condition. More often than not, he would need somebody to carry him around. In the case of the one in our text, he needed four able-bodied men to assist him!

On the other hand, spiritual paralysis occurs when man's spiritual vitality becomes dead (Prov. 21:16). As the physically paralytic has challenges in lifting his body due to heaviness in the joints and muscles, the spiritually  paralysed is so laden with heaviness (yoke) that he almost cannot do anything by himself.

Spiritual paralysis is as a result of sin. Sin is a disconnector between man and God. When sin sets in, Sickness, sorrow, setback, etc., become the order of the day (Eccl. 2.26). Due to spiritual paralysis, the sufferer finds normal spiritual routines, like personal devotion, Bible study, and meditation in the Word, responsibilities in God's house, etc., burdensome and problematic! Even to pray for just ten to fifteen minutes becomes an insurmountable hill! He slumbers in spirit. As the paralytic in today's text needed men to carry him to the Saviour, you also, if you discover you have been paralysed spiritually, need help, and you will be helped (Psa. 121:1).

The carriers of the paralytic were so desperate to help the man that they had to remove the roof of the house where the Lord was ministering to people, since everywhere was filled up and all entrances shut! You need to defy some protocols that stand on your way to finding timely help for your paralysis. Jesus Christ saw their faith. He wants to see your faith and not your face!

He is willing to say to you, "Son/Daughter, you are healed: your sins are forgiven. Go, and sin no more!"

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, deliver my life from every form of paralysis.

2. Pray for every paralytic situation in our ministries, vocations and businesses to receive the touch of God now, in Jesus' name.

3. Pray that the healing power of Jesus should touch every member of our churches suffering from stroke and/or paralysis, now, in Jesus' name.
