In the Bible text, Elijah was saying in his prayer:

Lord God Almighty, prove Yourself, as You called Yourself:

+ Jehovah. Genesis 17:1

+ Almighty. Psalm 91:1

+ Controller of all things. Genesis 1: 9-10, Job 38: 8-11

+ You've proved that You're the Maker & Controller of all things. Exodus 14: 21-28, Joshua 10: 12-14, Isaiah 38: 1-8

+ God is Fire Himself, and the Controller of fire. Hebrews 12:29, Exodus 3: 1-6

• Elijah was saying to God:

+ You are all these and more, and You don't change. (Exodus 3:14, Leviticus 9: 8-24)

Prove Yourself Lord.

• Elijah said something even more serious:

Show this day, not tomorrow, that You are God in Israel.

• Some miracles can wait for one year.

- Sarah in receiving her miracle child. Genesis 18: 9-14

- The Shunamite woman. 2 Kings 4: 8-17

- Israel's deliverance. 1 Samuel 17: 1-16, 51

• Some miracles can wait a week. John 11

• Some miracles can wait a day. 2 Kings 7: 1-11

• But some miracles cannot wait. They have to be now!

 

▪︎ When Peter was walking on water to meet Jesus, and he began to sink, if Jesus had said his deliverance could come a day later, the story would be different. Matthew 14

▪︎ Mark 10: 46-52

▪︎ I'm asking you, when do you want your miracle?

• Elijah was asking God to prove to everyone that he was God's servant.

• For as long as you're serving God genuinely, there is nothing wrong in asking God to prove to the world that you're genuinely serving Him.

Exodus 3: 7-12, Joshua 1: 1-8, Isaiah 61: 1-3

Prayer:

Cry to the Almighty God:

If I'm put to shame, I'm nothing. But You cannot afford to be put to shame.

Prove to the whole world that You are God.

Salvation Call: You can't ask God to prove Himself on your behalf if you're not His child.

To surrender Your life to Him: Call on God, and ask Him to have mercy on you, forgive your sins, save your soul, and receive you into His family.
