Topic: More than Conquerors

Life is war; from the time of birth till when you leave this world. Genesis 38:27

There are enemies in your own household.

Matthew 10:36, Genesis 27, 1 Samuel 18: 10-11

There are also enemies without, who may be unseen. Ephesians 6:12

In this war, there are possibilities:

1. Less than a conqueror

- God fighting against the person. Jonah 1

- God withdrawing His support. Joshua 7: 1-12

- Forsaken by God. Judges 16: 18

2. You are a conqueror.

- God fights with you. 1 Samuel 17: 34-51, Joshua 10: 1-14

3. More than a conqueror

- God does the fighting for you. Deuteronomy 28: 1-7, Exodus 14: 1-28

• Your number one enemy is yourself. Proverbs 16:32

• The one who is truly more than a conqueror is the one who has conquered him/herself.

• The greatest victory you can get is victory over yourself.

The self shows itself in many ways:

1. Pride. Proverbs 29:23, James 4:6

- If you are proud, you are fighting against God.

- The one who is proud doesn't usually know he is proud.

- When you humble yourself, God fights your battles for you.

2. Sexual Immorality

- God will consume any vessel that defies itself with fornication. 1 Corinthians 3:17

3. Food

- Some have made food their god. Philippians 3:19

4. Talkativeness. Proverbs 12:13, Matthew 12:36

- The less you say, the better, because everything you say is being recorded for the day of judgment.

5. That which you know is wrong, but keep doing. You justify it by saying it's not too bad. Example: imbibing alcohol. Genesis 9: 20-25; 19: 30-38

- If it's not too bad, it's already bad.

6. Anger. Ecclesiastes 7:9

- Anger rests in the bosom of fools. Numbers 20 1-12

- Anytime something is making you angry, the devil is about to spring an attack. Refuse to give in!
