Title: The Seat and The Spirit

Text: (Daniel 6:1ff)

Glancing at the theme, it could sound funny to you, but believe me you; the Lord is about to unveil us of some mysteries.

Talking about the seat, I don't mean the object/piece of furniture that is sat upon, I am going to adopt the transitive verb definition which is to occupy a post.

So many persons have been in influential and powerful positions that their spirit couldn't contain. Many people are on a quest for positions but their spirit isn't up to the task. Follow me as the Lord will be leading us.

There is a man called Daniel in the Holy Book, a captive of Babylon, foretold by the Lord when King Hezekiah failed to tell the executives of Babylon about how God healed him, instead, he showed them his wealth. (2kings 20:12-19).

As a captive in a strange land that has its gods, Daniel was made to excel than any other person as the Lord was with him. During the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar, he refused to spoil himself with the King's delicacies because of the seat (position), instead, he preserved and nurtured his spirit (Daniel 1:8). No wonder he grew in Grace, Spirit and the Wisdom of God, because he failed to eat strange food in a strange land, so many have eaten forbidden things because of the seat. Daniel didn't do that yet he was better ten times than the other persons (Daniel 1:20).

Many people because of the seat (position), have eaten foods and done things that are against the standard of the Lord.

With the spirit of excellence growing in the life of Daniel, he continued as an official during the reign of King Darius.

The spirit continually grew in him despite being a ruler in a strange land with strange gods.

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.(Daniel 6:3).

Let me open our eyes to something in the above passage. Because an excellent spirit was in him. Despite Daniel's position, he didn't lose his spirit.

Note: Daniel was a leader in the midst of unbelievers and yet his spirit continually grow and grow. Hope the seat has not mortified your spirit???? 

It doesn't matter the position you are seated in, what matters is that your shine bright before all men.  No wonder Jesus said; let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16)

 It is pertinent that your light shines to glorify the lord on every seat/position you find yourself in.

As a strange man in a strange land, Daniel continued to do good and grow in the spirit of God.

It is not a debate that most available seats are meant to kill one's spirit in our dispensation. You get jobs that require Saturday and Sunday, you don't even have time for fellowship, All you do is from home to office.

If you allow your seat to kill your spirit, your spirit will leave you and u will be prey for Satan. Don't give too much of time to your seat, Instead grow your spirit so your seat can expand.

Your Spiritual growth determines the capacity of the seat/position you will occupy. Stop giving more time to your seat than your spirit.

Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him?"

(Daniel 6: 4)

There is something so fascinating about the man Daniel, no error nor fault was found in him, for he was faithful. Are you faithful in your seat/position????

Daniel was a man  who believed solely in God and do things that make him happy. There was no fault in him. You are a Christian with no integrity, tell me where is your light❓

You are a Christian that does dubious things, where is your light📍❓

You are a Christian that fornicates and commits adultery, where is your light 📍❓

You are a Christian and you practice all forms of sorcery, witchcraft, hexcraft, spellcraft, you even visit the soothsayer, where is your light📍❓

You are a Christian and you steal people belongings either in cash or kind, tell me where is your light📍❓

Is Jesus boastful of the seat provided for you just like he called Job a perfect and upright man.

 " And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity..... (Job2:3).

Imagine God said a man he created holds fast his Integrity despite his seat/position,  can such be said of you?

It doesn't matter what seat you occupy, if your spirit isn't matured to occupy it, you will be slammed off the seat_

Brethren hope your spirit isn't dead because of your seat/position.

Some people have lost it because they want to occupy a seat/position. If your spirit man is dead, you will be hijacked of your great fortune. Come on drop that seat, go and regain your spirit before the devil slams you off your seat/position.

Do not let the seat rob you of the kingdom of God, no!!!!  It's not worth it.

Do not let it rob you of fellowship with brethren, hell no!!!!  It's not acceptable. Abandon the seat, run to Jesus to build your spirit, and I can assure you that you will be catapulted to greater heights.

If you are diligent in doing good in your seat/position and you feel like everyone is against you and you want to change to join them, halt your decision, don't join them, don't make a grave mistake, it is detrimental to your soul. Hold forth let me show you how Daniel overcame.

(Daniel 6 )

7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

9 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

People in the same seat/position with Daniel envied him and looked for a way to pull him down but they couldn't get any, instead they devised a way to pull him down, but who God is for who can be against him? 

Let me tell you something, whichever spirit that dwells in you would be singled out by people. If it is the spirit of God, or the spirit of Satan. Don't forget the sons of Sceva in

 (Acts 19 )

 14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

If you want to capture a mighty man, capture his source of power. That was the tactic adopted by the enemies of Daniel. They knew his source in his the word of God and prayers, so they laid an ambush for him not to pray to Yahweh. But lo and behold it was a lie. The seat couldn't stop his spirit, he didn't allow the seat to seize his spirit; instead, he paid obeisance to the scripture that says; pray without ceasing (1thes5:17).

Daniel knew the king had signed the verdict with the law of Medes and Persian that can neither be repealed nor altered yet he didn't give up the spirit for the seat.

He knew he could cost him his seat, yet he didn't give up his spirit.

He knew he could cost him his life, yet he didn't give up his spirit.

Why are you giving up your spirit on a little threat ❓

Why do you sell your spirit like Esau to Jacob because of your seat❓

Men of Authority are men with excellent spirit not excellent seat.

The Excellency in a seat isn't the seat/position but the power/authority accredited to the seat.

Do you want to know what Daniel did?,  follow me....

(Daniel 6 )

10 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

Despite the formidable/awe verdict of the king towards anyone that violates the laid down rule of not praying to any other god aside from King Darius for 30 days, Daniel opened wide his window and prayed 3 times daily. Wow 😮!!!!  What courage before the death penalty. As one of the  President, he is not naive of the law of the Medes and Persian, instead of him to deny his God and Sin, he dropped his seat and cringed to grow his spirit.

Don't make the mistake of leaving your spirit for your seat, because your success on the seat depends on the spirit you carry.

Daniel chooses his spirit to the detriment of his seat.

If you want to be successful in life, choose the spirit and not the spirit because you can get the spirit without the seat but you cannot get the seat without the spirit. 

If you are surrounded by critics for being faithful just like Daniel, don't panic your God won't forsake you.

What happens when you fail to let go of your spirit, salvation set in for others.

After Daniel was thrown into the lion's den, the giver of his spirit pronounced himself and salvation went throughout the world.

King Darius who was the then world-ruling entity said:

(Daniel 6 )

 25 Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and steadfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. Hallelujah 🙌🙌🙌🙌!!!!

The reason you aren't dominating the seat is because your spirit is dead and the reason why people around u have received salvation is that your spirit is dead.

Go lock yourself inside and tell the Lord to restore his spirit in you because you are empty on the seat without his spirit in you.

If your seat has made you lose your spirit and the giver of the spirit, run to him, confess your sins, I'm sure he will restore you.
