Daily Tonic: Humility

Text: Jeremiah 44:10 KJV

[10] They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.

Whoever will serve God must humble himself before him. Humility is when a man submits himself to God in obedience to his word. Your Humility begins with God.

The Israelites are God’s people but they chose to disobey God’s instructions and God said they were not humbled. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

It will be easy to walk in humility before men when you first humble yourself before God. The grace will come easily on you to be humble when you submit to God first.

If you don’t obey God’s word you are not humble, you are proud and God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Grace is to be highly favored by God, unmerited favor will be given to the humble while God resists the proud, that is. God opposes, strive, and even withstand the proud.

Do you desire God’s favor or grace? Do you want God to surprise you with his blessings and wonders Humble yourself in his presence by taking heed to his word?

Humility will attract God to your life while pride will make God far away from you.

Prayer: Lord Jesus please forgive and purge me of every pride and help me to always submit to your word. Let the spirit of humility that is in Christ possess me and help me to live in obedience to your word and instructions in Jesus name
